    Thanks.
I don't think either is the case. I kept the 3.34 max OAL down to 3.33 and these hunting loads were all with brand new Sig brass.
I will use RuralRugers approach and try to figure out the cause. I'm happy with the sub minute accuracy.

I was going to try shooting it today and just finished putting together 4 inert rounds which I cycled with the same result.

Tomorrow will be a range day before I disassemble the rifle.

Thanks guys for suggestions and possible causes.

I have a savage. When I go to chamber a round from the box magazine the bolt doesn't go back far enough to strip a round and chamber it. I literally have to move the rounds forward in the magazine for them to feed. It seems to be a magazine issue. Savage needs to offer a fix for this shit.

My Savage 16 Light Weight Hunter does this from time to time at the range.
It's bolt has been spiraled. So much so that it has a lot of slop and it will fail to pick up a round. Worse when new! The bolt draw needs to be stout and deliberate. Hard to do when your chambering a possible follow up shot.

I googled this problem with Savage and it seems to happen quite a bit however, when I removed the stock, the mag spring and follower fell out.

I cleaned everything up, saw nothing bent or otherwise an apparent problem. When I reassembled the rifle, I wasn't sure of the mag spring orientation.
I got the parts breakdown online and put the rifle back together.

I had put 4 dummy rounds together to test the cycling of the action and the problem seems to be ok.

I'm now wondering if some idiot may have reversed the mag spring a year ago. ( that would have been me).
When I was sighting in, I was feeding one round at a time.

I'll be heading to the range within the next week or so to check a few loads for my PA10.
I'll take the Savage to check it.

A new rifle still sounds like a plan..

    Thanks for all the suggestions.
I still have to decide. I like that Tikka but the Vanguard. Winchester and Browning are there too.

I'd have to buy new glass too. Ha.
