Beware of emails scamming dog owners
I just received several emails about our dogs, naming them, and providing the owner's name (although they misspelled it once). Says we need to renew our annual dog licenses. Looks legit. Except it's probably not.
The site is " padoglicense.com ", and multiple news stories from 2019 claim that it's a foreign scam, aimed at collecting your cc data and stealing from you, and possibly committing identity theft. Plus, you don't get a real dog license.

This one from 2018 says the site is legit, but the 2019 stories say it's a scam, and their source is the owner of the site, so what possible reason would HE have to lie?:

The media contradict each other, so use your own judgment. I suspect that the state sells off lists of personal info, the way they've done with driver's license info. So a scammer could purchase a list of all licensed dogs and the names of their owners and their addresses, then send out scam emails. Or maybe it's legit after all, and the journalists got it wrong in 2019.Attorney Phil Kline, AKA gunlawyer001@gmail.com
