You're not, just repeating what you have been told.
Your friend is feeding you the line. FCC does not have any certifications, they have licenses.
ARRL has some Emcomm certs, and FEMA through their Emergency Management Institute has certificates for completing their courses.

So Sparks you have nothing better to do but give me BS because I used certifications instead of licenses. When in actual reality a license certifies you!! Again like I said it was his cup of tea, not mine. So sorry for using the wrong terminology. This guys was a dispatcher for my City’s fire, EMS, and police way before 911 centers were common in PA. So maybe I’ll get you a list of all his licenses and take a picture of his radio towers on his property. It’s people like you who ruin forums. Again I’m a gun guy not a comms guy. In the future, I ask you first what terminology I should use when talking about comms! Get a life dude!!!

Not trying to give you any BS, just trying to clarify what you meant.
Terminology is important in communications, weather on a radio or participating in forums. Watch what happens if someone says "clip" instead of "magazine".

no one is trying to give you grief, just get clarifications. It is easy to be lead astray, as a lot of paper chasers can throw stuff to cause confusion and make themselves look better, happens in every corner of life. This is a chance to understand and educate yo, not attack you. You mention being a gun guy not a comms guy, there is a reason the trilogy is shoot, move and COMMUNICATE. Understanding the basics of communications is very much a part of being a gun guy, and not being BSed.

Thought that was Shoot, Shovel, Shutup.
Rules are written in the stone,
Break the rules and you get no bones,
all you get is ridicule, laughter,
and a trip to the house of pain.

Even though most of you guys are likely beofeng VHF’ers, consider giving 75M HF a try for reliable communications around PA. Give a listen to 3983 in the late afternoons. Guys get on and talk from 5p to 6p and then the start the “Moe McKendree Traffic Net” at 6p. Most of the guys (and a few girls) on there are located in Western or Central PA. They’re a welcoming group, so jump in and say hello.

This weekend is "Field Day" weekend if you're curious about ham radio, or field communications, here's your chance, visit a local radio club and get on the air under their supervision, and ask questions, a time to make friends and learn, too many sites to list but visit ARRL http://www.arrl.org/field-day-locator to find the closest site, or one that interests you most, and visit.

Do it, even though participation is down this year due to Covid, there are still enough clubs setting up.
They love visitors and many have GOTA (get on the air) stations where anyone can try and make contacts.
