Hopefully this won't be considered an infraction. If it is then I apologize and MODS just delete it.

Have decided that I won't be actively pursueing the VHF/UHF genre. As such I am selling a not used Baofeng UV-5R. It is located in the classifieds. It might be easy and just take some work to get my head wrapped around it but I just have too much on my plate at this time. Maybe when I close my gun shop in a few years I'll rethink it.

UHF/VHF is OK for close area operations..you need to go HF..ground wave on 80m.

What Sparks said, what certifications? if you're talking Licenses, I've seen guys with Extra class license for decades, take them out of their shack and they don't know what to do, but BOY can they rack up contest points. I've seen unlicensed guys who could take and repair any radio and make a home brew antenna just from high school science class. So when someone touts paperwork, we all know what good paper will be.

He has most of his federal certifications and licensing. He isn’t just a shelter comms guy! He’s also into preping, just was always involved in ham/amateur radio before preping was big.

You still haven't said what certifications. Assume you mean an amateur radio license, maybe a GROL or GMRS thrown in for kicks.

No clue what certifications, I just know he has
almost ever cert possible. He was former 911 dispatcher. He has maintained and installed his towers. Like I said it’s his hobby not mine. So have no clue or do I care what certs he has. As far as I’m concerned it none of my business.

If you are referring to me feeding a line of bull. Then that’s a big negative sunshine. I have no clue as to what certs/licenses he has or what are even available through the FCC. All I know is that he said he has almost all that he can get and that there was one or two more that he could get. He’s been doing this since the 80’s. I really don’t care about communications for prepping, I just make sure my little Motorola two way radios have working batteries. I just know that when the poop hits the spinning thing for the world coming the end. He would be one of the people I’m taking with.
