7.62x25 Ammo Prices and Availability
Anybody know what in particular is up with 7.62x25 (Tokarev) ammo prices and availability? I know everything is up price-wise right now, but Tokarev has not only gotten ridiculouly expensive, it seems like there's none anywhere. Ammoseek only lists 3 places that have it in stock right now. I never thought it was that popular a caliber. I'm the only guy who I know who shoots it in my circle of friends, and I've never run into anyone at the range with anything that shoots it either. Increased demand from cheap PPS-43 pistols maybe?

Re: 7.62x25 Ammo Prices and Availability
Yesterday I tracked this link for a while.
https://www.sgammo.com/product/762x2...oadable-non-co
They listed over 100 boxes of 50 and I kept checking back as that number decreased. I was not willing to pull the trigger on (4) boxes at that price.
$0.76 a round is half of what I've seen on the ammo search engines.

Re: 7.62x25 Ammo Prices and Availability
10-15 years ago when I was first looking at it, surplus stuff was dirt cheap. Then by the time I bought into the caliber 2 years ago, it was already well ahead of where it had been and new production PPU/S&B was the better bet IMO (accounting for quality, reloadability, and not being corrosive). In that time period, I think imports of surplus ammo largely dried up, and at the same time the imports of Tokarevs and PP type guns increased. Not that I have facts to back it, just that's what I've seen personally

Cheapest I saw on ammoseek.com was $1.40/round. What other search engines are you using for Tokarev?

There's a seller post from Orwigsburg on this site selling boxes of 40 of surplus for $20 each. I think its 1953 Bulgarian.

If I was short on Tok ammo, I would be making that friendly trip to Schuylkill County for it. .50 a round is a bargain these days.

Thanks for the link. I'm thinking about it, but I've got what I need ammo-wise, just not what I want, so the distance is an issue.
