Question on devaluation of a Victory revolver

Today I was looking over my Victory, pondering that the only acceptance stamp on it is the flaming bomb by the serial number. Made in approximately September of 1942, I figured it should have US Property and the three initials.

I got looking at the top strap and realized that the left edge is wider and flatter than the right edge. Not by much, suttle.

Did some searching and discovered that yes, there should be the stamping there, and that people wrongly believing it illegal to possess US Property would often grind it away...which didn't take much as the stamp was usually very shallow.

So, that raises the question does the removal of the stamp lettering affect collector value? (This one is in nice condition, but as collectibles go, is probably a plain vanilla). And, the plain walnut grips are period correct but not matching number.

I don't have any insight to your question, but I'd love to see pictures. My interest was piqued after reading the American Rifleman article.

I do not see how it does not lower the value Vs one that has all markings intact especially to a collector.

Yeah, probably a dumb question. Like an intact chrysanthemum on an Arisaka is going to be worth more than a ground off.
