Default Glock 40 cal to 9mm conversion.

    Hi guys, what's up.
Quick question about Glock conversion barrels.
    I am planning on installing a 9mm barrel in a Glock 23, which is a 40S&W.
Am I correct in assuming that all I need is the 9mm barrel and a 9mm mag?
Is that all that needs to be bought?
Is there anything else that needs to be changed?
Is the entire process simple and quick like putting lego blocks together?

    Thanks

I have two Glock G22s with Lone Wolf 40-9 conversion barrels installed and I use Glock 9mm magazines in them. I have never had a misfeed, failure to extract or any other problem with either pistol. YMMV

As far as I recall, you buy a 9mm conversion barrel such as those sold by Lone Wolf. A regular 9mm barrel won't fit correctly. Hence, a conversion barrel. The conversion barrel just drops in like your regular barrel and then you can use 9mm mags which will fit in the G23 frame. Its been a while since I looked into this so maybe go onto Lone Wolf's website and see what they say.

I believe you also need to (or SHOULD) change your ejector. The 9mm and .40 ejectors have different profiles. This is pretty easy to do by purchasing a new ejector housing. The Lone Wolf housing actually has an interchangeable ejector. The install is very easy since the Glock detailed disassembly is easy - you just need some punches for the pins. The housing will be Glock Gen specific - i.e. Gen3, 4, 5.

If you do some googling you'll find a lot of info out there about different generation ejectors denoted by their numbers, which ones have reportedly good ejection, etc.

I did this too. A lone wolf 9mm conversion barrel and pmag 9mm mags run flawlessly in my gen 3 G23. I also read that you SHOULD change the ejector, but I haven't bothered since I haven't experienced any issues.

I have 9mm conversion barrels for my G23 and 22. Both seem to work flawlessly. I've read that if you're using a conversion barrel it corrects for the extractor so that shouldn't need to be changed.

I've also used a G19 barrel in a G23 without issue. In that case the G19 barrel looks a little off because it is thinner, although only smaller in diameter by .017" (I believe). It didn't effect function.

Same here except only one model 22. I'm an enthusiast, not a fanatic. Same Lone Wolf 9mm barrel and when I shoot 9 I use g17 mags, spring and guide rod.
