Default How are carbon fiber rifle barrels made/composed?

I've been looking at a number of different carbon fiber barrel manufacturer's and I'm having a hard time figuring out how these barrels are made vs how standard steel barrels are made. I'm trying to figure out if the carbon fiber barrels use a steel barrel liner and then using carbon fiber on the outside of the liner. The CF barrels also have a very odd look compared to the standard look of carbon fiber (the standard pattern).

I'm trying to figure out if they use a sheet of CF and it is rolled up around the liner, or if it is done some other way. The pattern almost looks like the CF is turned on a lathe afterwards which would give it the strange random pattern that is seen on the barrels.

So if anyone has any information on how these are made, I'd be very interested in how it's done, or if you know any other info on them I'd appreciate the info.

^ That got me an infected computer warning. Second try went OK. Weird.

Seems common sense to me that heat has to be able to sink away from its source in order to cool. Carbon fiber remaining cool is proof it is not conducting heat, ergo, it is insulating and the liner is going to both remain warm and gain in temperature with each shot. Not a problem. If on the bench and multiple rounds within certain time is needed, just pour cool water down the bore.

As time goes along, more will be learned on the subject and the wrap formula too.

There are two kinds of guns. Those I have acquired, and those I hope to.

There are quite informative videos on youtube about how cf barrels are made.
Upon reading the question here, I immediately thought of the Winlite barrel on my old Winchester model 59. That is fiberglass wrapped steel. The Carbon fiber process is different in how the Cf is laid up on the barrel blank.

I remember those Winlite barrels too. If they got cut on barb wire or something they would unravel.

CF barrels are cool if you absolutely need the lightest rig possible. But they are JUNK as far as accuracy is concerned. The CF is there for looks, as having a tiny super thin barrel would look ridiculous! But the CF does nothing for integrity of the barrel. They overheat quickly and warp. Accuracy sucks.
