I have 3 or so boxes so not an emergency but I thought it would be expensive, not unobtainable.
Funny, because I hunt with a .308, and was certain I had at 4-6 boxes. I passed on some last year at guns shows because I had plenty for hunting. All I could find a few weeks ago was 2 1/2 boxes. I'm sure eventually I will find the missing ammo, because I know I purchased more in previous years, but damn if that didn't make me panic for a few seconds. I have plenty of miltary .308, but would prefer soft point for hunting. Then I recalled I purchased a few hundred or more sierra .308 soft point bullets dirt cheap at a gun show last year. whew, at least I can reload.

Funny that because last big ammo shortage in 2013 hunting ammo was relatively plentiful.

It's weird to see what is the hot ticket this time around and what isn't.

I fucked up on .30-30 too. Kept waiting, waiting. The only round I have almost nothing. Mainly because I switched to lever revolution and I hate paying the cost. Oh well.

Cabelas had a shit ton of 12ga birdshot today...

Walmart’s here I only see 28ga, some 16ga, and 12ga target load, with the occasional 410/20ga box floating around...

For you guys looking for 308 In the area I definitely recommend stopping in to see big Gene at priorityone. He has pmc bronze and a couple other brands up there. Just stocked the shelf today.

I found my 10MM and 9MM about a month back---Some places are real expensive. However, I would go on several times daily until a good price popped up.

    Here is my take:

    1. Ammo can be found. It is out there but you have to pay $$$$. For people with money to spend, its hard to swallow but they will pay. If you don't have money, its is total BS. This is part of the gun control big test. Make Ammo very expensive, problem partially solved in their little minds. I for one can afford nearly a $1/round of 9mm FMG 115g but won't pay for it. Period. If I need to shoot, I will dip into my stock.
    2. Without Wally World in the hand gun and certain long arms ammunition business anymore, its allowing other retailers to do as they wish and set the market. Wally World was a bit of an equalizing factor when it came to pricing.
    3. Once the new shooters craze is over, things may in fact get better. More supply of ammo on the market with less demand equals lower prices.
    4. Biden is a wild card. With a Republican controlled Senate and the SCOTUS we have now, I am not as worried about ammo pricing. All relies on the January 2021 Georgia runoff. If for some stupid reason the Dems win the GA seats and the Senate goes to 50/50 with Harris have the deciding vote... all bets are off and we can expect the ammo gouging to continue.

    All IMHO.
