Climbing stand public land?

Hey all,

I was looking for some insight on using a summit climbing deer stand on public grounds. The handbook says you cannot use anything that damages the cambium layer of the tree. Does the teeth on the stand damage this area?

Put it on a thick bark type tree. Try to avoid thin bark like a beech type tree that would easily be damaged.

If it's like my summit, technically it can damage trees. Trees with tougher bark, not as much, but if they wanted to be hard asses about it, they could.
