But in all seriousness, is this drop in wall hanger safe? Because I know the trigger groups the army put in to make their M4s full auto behave a pesky habit of going *bang* when the selector switch is moved from safe to anything else, without a trigger pull.
I should have said "safe" or "Boogaloo" ;-)

I thought that bolt riding actually prevented discharge because the hammer doesn't swat the primer hard enough.

Then my mistake, was basing this off of an animated gif I had seen to explain the action.

Point was meant to be, they work.

Yes, they all work in roughly the same way. An auto sear, DIAS, lightning loop or clothes hanger all release the hammer in a timed method to achieve FA, either by sear releasing a notched full auto hammer, or the cheat via disconnector, both being released by the BCG as it passes back to battery.

I think the timing rods were .08, .10, .12. The idea being that if the bolt face was .10* or less from the chamber and the hammer was released, (trigger still pulled), the bolt had time to engage and rotate for lockup before the hammer struck the firing pin. .12 or greater and you risk the entire assembly engaging your face! Not something legal for most of us, and nothing to screw around with anyway.

I thought the bent piece kept the hammer from releasing, until the bolt was nearly home, not that it let the hammer ride the bolt home.
