August 21st

October 16th

The side shoots will continue this year as follows.

January we will have a steel shoot with open sight centerfire handguns. Not really a time limit but time will be used to break ties. One shot at each steel target. The most hits in the least amount of time wins. This will be a 2 man team event. Partners drawn as we always do. As of right now I have 15 targets (I think). I'll probably have 20-25 by then.

February will be a return of the pistol turkey shoot. Any open sight pistol is acceptable. One shot at 50 feet. The individual who hits closest to the center of the target wins.

April willbe a centerfire rifle bullseye shoot. This too will be a team event with partners drawn the day of the shoot. As promised, the use of optics are allowed for this one although those who want to use open sights are welcome to do so. The target will be the standard A 23 target we always use. The course of fire will be 40 rounds fired from 4 different positions. 10 rounds per postion which are standing, kneeling, sitting and prone. Since basic narksmanship fundamentals are the goal of this shoot the time limit is 10 minutes to shoot all 40 shots.

June will be a bullseye centerfire pistol competition on a full size scorable target at 50 feet. 30 rounds total. All standing position. 5 rounds slow fire 2 minutes twice. 5 rounds timed fire 20 seconds twice and 5 rounds rapid fire 10 seconds twice. Also an individual event.

August will be a repeat of the April shoot except it will be rimfire. Optics can be used and this will be an individual event. (see April)

October will be a combat revolver competition. Open sight double action revolvers only. All shooting will be double action only. Speed loaders will be a plus. And it will be a team event with partners drawn the day of the shoot. The coure will consist of 36 rounds at a full size scorable target broken down as follows. 7 yards 3 strings of double taps for a total of 6 rounds. Time limit will 5 seconds per string. At 15 yards will 6 shots dropping to kneeling, reloading and firing 6 more shots with a time limit of 60 seconds. Again at 15 yards startring in the sitting position firing 6 shots, dropping to the prone, reloading and firing 6 more in 60 seconds. And lastly 6 hoots at 25 yards standing with a 12 second time limit.

I will continue the annual competition as well. It was very close last last year with 2 people tied for 1st and 2nd and 2 more people, only 1 point behind were tied for 3rd and fourth. I really enjoyed that aspect of last year. 3 team events this year throws a lot of wild cards into it too.

Good luck finding ammo!
