Default Assault wpn through MD, FOPA?

Can I travel on a MD highway for l/2 mile to get from PA back to PA? No other route to the PA property. Purpose = target shooting. Weapon = Colt 6920

    IANAL

I believe this case is a perfect FOPA example and you would be perfectly in your rights to transport through MD as long as you make no stops there.

If starting point is Pa and destination is PA, yes. No stops in that 1/2 mile
There is always a risk MD won't care. Personal choice, personally I would do it because FOPA mother fucker.

I believe there is some question whether mags are covered under FOPA.

He's using the term that Maryland (wrongly) defines it as.

I agree, FOPA covers this circumstance and you should be good to go. Don't consent to any searches or offer any information if stopped. Don't have any shooting related items in plain view.

Unless your Colt MSR is select fire, it is NOT an "Assault Weapon". Assault is a definition of INTENT not of design. You can make a broomstick an "assault weapon" if that is your intend of its use!

FOPA is in effect and supported by law. However, as we have all just witnessed, laws can and are broken/violated/ignored by benevolent government all too often.

I don't know, but I run through a stretch of Maryland every year with a black gun or two going down to WV to deer hunt. Hell if I am going miles and miles out of my way to cross in to WV from PA. I know a lot of people that do that run with their carry guns.
