I admit to being leary of that lever in a defensive situation. Maybe for a revolver it would be ok. Definitely a strker without a thumb safety. Not that I advocate thumb safeties on striker guns.

I'd say it's poorly trained people. If you do it right (finger flat, not curved) then you should end up with your finger on the frame above the trigger guard. It's all the people pressing it with the tip of their finger where their finger ends up inside the trigger guard.
