Need a mentor for fall turkey - 4C/3D
Anyone heading out this weekend that would be willing to let me tag along? I can shoot em and eat em, but need someone to show me how to call em in with a box call and field dress em 🤣 that was always dad’s job...

I’m in 5C 😕 but don’t mind traveling to somewhere in 4C/3D or anywhere in between

I recommend Redner's, they'll have turkeys for something like $.50/lb with $35 purchase soon. Jennie-O or ShadyBrook, both are good eatin'.

Re: Need a mentor for fall turkey - 4C/3D
Might be heading up to go out with a cousin in 2E/2H area. I don’t mind the travel If it means I can learn and fill my tag. Haven’t been out since I was a kid and it’s a lot different actually having to track them than it is having them come down into the old pasture behind the house every morning, knowing where they are already 🤣

In the mountains you hunt them like you hunt deer. I may not get out my leg is messed up again. Anyway, turkeys go from their roost to feed and usually water before they roost at night. They will follow deer trails to their feed areas. Ambush them just like deer. If there are no acorns where you are at get near a farm.
