Sig 365 SAS keyholing?

A good friend purchased a new Sig 365 SAS and had it to the range yesterday for the first time. Due to the scarcity of ammo, he put 3 12 rd mags thru it for familiarization. Using off the shelf target ammo (not reloads) about 80% or more of his hits were keyholing
This was at self defense distance, 5-7 yds.
He called and asked me wtf, but I'm clueless.
Anyone have an answer? FWIW I have a P365 and have never had that issue.

If it keyholes then the bullet is the wrong diameter for the barrel. One or the other is out of spec. Try different ammo. If the same thing occurs I suspect a bad barrel.

Yea I'd like to see that. I've never seen or heard this even with the most limp wristed pistol shooters and I've dealt with some doozies.
The only thing I can think and this is reaching was he was in an indoor lane and the ventilation or lane construction somehow caused the target to flap out so the holes ended up being oblong when shooting that close.

Ar's will do it with the wrong combo of bullet and twist but not that short. I can't see Sig fucking up a bbl or ammo that bad. Maybe wrong cal?

Here's a picture of the target he sent. He also shot a .380 at the same target, those holes appear to be ok.

Looks like the cardboard backer is all shot-out. A fresh backer would result in "cleaner" holes in the paper target
