Re: .338 Lapua scope recommendation
Thanks for the info and article, I went ahead and read that and honestly it sounds like MIL is more like metric readings and MOA is easier to understand. I went ahead and ordered the following:
https://www.midwayusa.com/product/1009453030?pid=668110
https://www.midwayusa.com/product/3284279521?pid=728485
For the scope rings I went with the high mount and 20.6 MOA so hopefully that should be a good ring setup. Now I just have to figure a bi-pod out to mount with it. I think I'm going to go with the recommended Atlas BT46-LW17. Comes in a little over what I wanted to spend but forgot about the rings for the scope.
Edit: Noticed Midway had the Bi-Pod too, just ordered this one - https://www.midwayusa.com/product/3165163370?pid=163370
Will post a picture once everything arrives, hopefully it'll show up before the weekend!

Aye ca rumba, you sure went big on the rings. I don't think I'd have gone that big.

Re: .338 Lapua scope recommendation
Yeah I wasn't sure, selection was limited and I didn't want to go super cheap. The other ones were around $299 ish and figured for the extra $100 why not.
Bi-Pod just arrived today, got that installed - Liking how easy that was to setup! Hopefully with any luck my scope and rings will be arriving tomorrow.Last edited by widgetman101; October 30th, 2020 at 03:35 PM.

The OP went in a different different direction, but for anyone else looking to get into F-class or long distance, the refurb Vortex Golden Eagles are back in stock

Same question but with a budget 1/3-1/2 the size ($500-1200). Recognizing the limitations of that price range and the fact that Nightforce isnt an option, I'm leaning towards a Sightron Siii, Leupold Mk4, Athlon (possibly their Midas model), SWFA 3x15 or 5x20, or a Vortex PST. Strongly prefer a warranty

Re: .338 Lapua scope recommendation
Oh it shoots nice, I wish I'd have some more time to get out and play with it. I've had it out twice now, first trip the sun was out without a cloud in the sky and the glare was horrible. Second trip out we did stretch it out to 400 yards which is the longest distance at our local range. I want to get some more time and get it dialed then find some 1,000 yard + places to shoot and really put it to the test.
