I don't know that both bear or deer are moving that much during the day this week due to the high temps. With all their winter fat stored up, they have a hard time not overheating, especially in the warm sun. Unfortunately, the temps aren't going down much until after muzzleloader season goes out.

I like hunting in October xue to the warmer temps, but this is too warm. I think your best bet this week will be to hunt the fallen barometer on Saturday morning and possibly Saturday late afternoon as the cold front pushes in.

You're in prime area for bears. But, you can't shoot them if they're lying in a shady laurel thicket trying to stay cool.

True, true and true.I have historically hunted ahead of or at the arrival of a cold front. After several days of summer like heat, the critters are going to be on the move.

Saw two bears just north of there by Old 402 this May while commuting for work, twice in one week.
