Great choice in mid-length gas, I love the way they shoot. I prefer the longer handguards, but my wife will tell you I've got long monkey arms! Here's two of my favorites, both with 16" barrels, the black one with a 13" Palmetto State narrow handguard (I don't think they are available anymore) with standard A2, and the FDE with an Aero Precision Atlas S 12" (12.5") and a VG6 comp. Both gas blocks are Aero low profile and easily fit underneath. The weight of the extra Aero S going from 9" to 12" is negligible, they are so light to begin with.

^^^ The ATLAS handguards are AMAZING - and very light.

Yeah, if weight is THAT much of a concern, download your mag by one round to make up the difference that an inch or two of aluminum makes.

I'm leaning toward the 9.5" odin works o2 lite. I've seen a few lighter handguards but they start getting crazy priced (not that the odin works is cheap).

Yeah, I refuse to spend insane money on certain things. Like a handgaurd! No reason for these to cost $200...$300+! My new supplier of handguards are made in USA, from 7075-T6 aluminum. And they are right around $100. There is nothing a $300 guard will do better.

Only thing...avoid the CHINESIUM guards. The aluminum is usually ok, but they are supplied with really barrel nuts. US made handguards will be supplied with either solid steel or 7075 billet barrel nuts.
