Yeah, same reason I cut way back on the "pro bono publico" requests for people who want work done that benefits only them, not the public. There's no "pro bono Theodore" ethical obligation.

I will allow my dogs to interact with strangers, but it mostly involves late-night glass breaking and screaming and clean-up with bleach and a lot of paper towels. Possibly a woodchipper.

I can give you pro bono access to a wood chipper for pro bono legal work.

I third the offer to let him pay for the horse's board in exchange for delaying your project. And if he gets any pissier, I'd start setting off a batch of tannerite every morning.

Our deer maybe more civilized than yours but when I do anything in the timber they are checking me out. Most deer are very curious and will not be spooked by cutting trees/brush.

If he never sets foot in his timber other than hunting season, he is the one running the deer off. We have lived on our 16.5 acres for years with horses and some cattle. The deer are cool with us in the timber but avoid the bow hunter who hunts on us.

My opinion is that he needs to mind his own business. Most of us bought our land out in the county to get away from nosy and intrusive neighbors.

Do what you need to do and let him live with it.

Sounds like the OP needs some purple paint around the borders of his land.

I don't know the logistical situation like how much land you own, proximity of neighbor and so on.
However what does the threat "we are NOT going to be neighborly anymore" mean?
The neighborly thing is to chip in and help get the job done.
Anyone with an attitude like you described would be thrown off and told not to come back until they can act half way decent.
No way I deserve any of that.
I don't go out of my way to disturb anyone but hell it's my land, I bought it, pay tax on it, work it, and I'll do what I want on it.
It ain't what they call you, it's what you answer to.

Yep, this pic is of neighbors being "neighborly". Pretty sure this guy was not part of any such endeavor.

I had my local asshole tell me "I guess we're going to be feuding neighbors."
Guess who's going to discover his ability to exit his property is going to be adversely impacted after the snow starts falling, as i won't be plowing the easement any longer for free.
And good luck finding a plow guy willing to take on plowing a gravel drive. Around here nearly all will say "fuck that noise." I'm the only one I know of that does them.

tell him wait till I start running the wood splitter.

The saw isn't scaring the deer.
    He's a piss poor hunter.

On a more helpful note, a compromise isn't you wait two months so he can hunt. A compromise is limiting certain activities to certain days, or hours, and he comes over to helps now. That's a compromise.
The sooner you're done the sooner he can find something new to bitch about.
