Re: What grease do you folks use on pistols???
I wouldn't use a Moly grease. Its messy. I tried it once and it gets black crap everywhere that stains everything it gets on.
For me grease is grease and I never noticed any difference between an uber expensive little tube of one and a $4 can of auto axle grease. Eventually I bought a gross of the little military grease pots and that is what I use now. Lubriplate was the grease issued for Garands during WWII and has been in use for 80-100 years. If you have some I would not feel any need to "upgrade".

Re: What grease do you folks use on pistols???
At room temperature, that is probably true. The differences will become more apparent at higher and lower temperatures.
That said, i don't use grease. Oil or clp. No issues. Torture tests show guns running for thousands of rounds with no lubrication at all. Conversely, too much oil or grease and you are asking dirt/sand/carbon fouling/etc to stick to the lubricated surface.
Do what makes you happy here, but unless you are running your gun for thousands of rounds without cleaning it in extreme weather conditions, you probably won't notice any difference nor cause any damage from under or over lubrication.

Re: What grease do you folks use on pistols???
I use Lubriplate lithium grease, mainly because it’s a lightweight grease suitable for high pressure and temperature. Also because I have tubes of it around for lubing the drive bearing on my jet boat. A light touch on rails is all I use. It never gets sticky or gummy like cheap grease.
