I have a uniden 880 in my truck. I ve wondered if I should have sprung for the ssb model.

I ve also debated switching to the anytone smart 10. But PA isnt an option with that radio.

I think the biggest drawback for cb is the dbags with their BIG radios. If they kept their bs on channel 6 it would be ok. They were all over channel 19 today * do it again do it again try n key up on me try n key up on me buy bye bye *

It was full of that when I got off the road back in '89 and I was wondering if it got any better. I thought that with most OTR drivers being immigrants that maybe they weren't into that garbage.

Travelled west in '83. West coast truckers used 17 for serious, mature conversation. 19 on the east coast was so bad, fist fights followed.
There are two kinds of guns. Those I have acquired, and those I hope to.

I've run radios since I had my drivers license.
Got my dads old C.B in the truck , I did have to replace the mic a year or so ago * it had JCPenny on the mic *. so how long ago was that?

but not 100% sure , since I had lost all my C.B's in a boating accident it made very little difference
Guys stopped getting licenses and using their assigned call sign in the mid 70's but I think licensing officially ended in the early 80's.

They don't make 'em like that anymore and I have an old 23 channel radio around here somewhere. I believe they had more power before they went to 40 channels but I'm not confident enough about that to bet on it.

Yep, mid '70's it was. I got my first CB in 1976 and licenses had just gone out. CB was really hitting its prime and they couldn't keep up with the apps or enforce it so they just abandoned the idea.

Which is what should and will happen with GMRS.
    It's already not enforced.

Buy a damn baofeng uv-5r and learn how to use it.
If it's a real emergency then no one is coming to help you, or alternatively you want anyone that you can get to show up for any reason to help.
    No real lose.

You'd never use the term "good buddy" if you knew the joke.
