Recoil question.
I have been shootin mainly American Eagle 40. ammo at the range. They are 180 gr rounds and pretty snappy. Will switching to 165 or even 155 gr ammo calm the recoil any? It's hard to get follow up shots off accurately.
I did search the question before posting but the answers usually come down to physics and a bunh of numbers I just don't understand so a yes, No or Maybe would be good if possible.
If it matters I shoot a Springfeild XD service model.

Re: Recoil question.
Yes. Short enough for ya? The real question is by how much. It may not be enough for you to notice, buy a box and give it a try. Stick to the same brand though, some makers use slightly hotter loads then others. So to get a true comparison stick with the American Eagle.

Re: Recoil question.
No.
I mean...yes......
er...maybe?
If you take two rounds of the same power factor......one with a light bullet going faster and one with a heavy bullet going slower.....they both impart the same force.
But.....depending on many variables... that force will occur over a shorter or longer time. So...while the recoil will be the same in terms of force....it will feel different. Many shooters report they can control recoil from heavier bullets easier as it feels "slower" or "not as snappy".
In reality.....it's all about what feels good to you.

Re: Recoil question.
My opinion is yes. At the range i shoot 165gr. but at home the Walther has 180gr in it. Every couple months we shoot the carry ammo and i do seem to feel a difference.
Maybe it's psychological, maybe it's real. I dunno, but i seem to feel a difference in recoil.
