Default Berks County LTCF Application Process

    Interesting article about Berks County

    https://www.wfmz.com/news/area/berks...71d00bea2.html

Now, there's a new way to renew and apply for LTC permits, as Berks county is only the second in Pennsylvania to allow its residents to do it on a mobile app.

"Go on the app, the license to carry section and complete an application for a Pennsylvania license to carry firearms right on their phone," Weaknecht said.

The app also allows applicants to fill out their information, pay for the service and license, and submit a picture of their driver's license.
Sounds like a good model for the rest of the Counties.

Except that it imposes fees that are not authorized by statute. PA Sheriff's are obliged to follow the legal framework for the LTCF process, which includes specifically enumerated fees. The Sheriff does not have the authority to deviate from that.

I hear what you're saying but who's going to challenge that? The service is not compulsory at this time so if one doesn't want to pay it they have another option. As for me, I don't like paying fees but would assess the value of it when the time comes. I'd probably pay a dollar or two to save myself the drive but not much more than that.

I would pay $30 bucks not to have to go to the courthouse to renew my LTCF. Happily.

Call me anything you want but $5 is enough to make me go in person. But keep in mind that this is Berks County, where I can zip up to the airport, park near the door for free and be back out with my LTCF in about 15 minutes.

This would be great in my mind for Pittsburgh ( Allegheny Co) parking runs $4 hr and up and even though I'm only a few miles away, I would gladly pay the $5 to do it from home

$4 is what parking costs in most areas....and then what's your time worth?
