This I know since it says it right on his web site.

Haha. All of this is true - except the door to door confiscation nonsense.
Been hearing that from the NRA for 40+ years.
It's a scare tactic that doesn't compute with reality.

Enjoy the thread. My portion of the derailment ends here.

Armed security agents actually went to this kid's home in Long Island to question him about a legally owned AR style rifle. All he did was post a picture of him with it, no mag inserted, on Instagram. He made no demands, no threats, nothing according to his posts.

Did you hear about all the bump stock owners who had their bump stocks confiscated in no-knock raids once they were deemed contraband?
    No? How 'bout that.
Yes, mostly they can strangle it through legislation and harsh penalties just as they did over a few decades in the UK, Canada, NZ, Australia. They keep tightening the rules and penalties and squeezing everyone out.

I'll take Australia as an example. They passed the semi auto ban in the late 90s(a few select people can still own semi autos on a certain licence) and it's estimated maybe as little as a third were handed in. OK, well, where once made illegal where you going to shoot it, possess it, get parts for it, even get ammo for it without drawing attention to yourself at some point? If you get caught with it, you are going to jail for a couple of years at a minimum. Every so often the Australian police will get a tip and turn up someone out in the bush or the outback that has one and they do a raid. Eventually they come to the surface.

Same thing here if we take for instance the bumpstock, now that it's illegal, probably a lot of people have them still, but in essence it's null and void because where are you going to shoot it/use it and if someone gets caught with it in their possession, it's a five year prison sentence likely.

As it is, us gun owners already have a bazillion laws we have to abide by, so they'll aim to add more with more harsh penalties and probably push for some bans.

Even if Trump wins these people are not going to stop so the fight will go on for all time.

"Door to door confiscation" is a fantasy.

EM is correct. There will be no door to door. You simply legislate and make possession a felony. That drives them underground and makes them as good as confiscated unless there's a massive "it's time" movement. Then you pick off the stupid who reveal their ownership. Door to door is far too expensive, dangerous and ineffective. Search and seizure rules still apply and without PC for a warrant, the best they can do is a knock and talk.

More than likely, they'd do a "registration" so you can keep it along with a buy-back. The registration makes confiscation a lot easier because when you get a letter in the mail listing the guns you own that you must now surrender to the nearest police station, you are pretty much fucked.
