Need a new 1911 officer model leather holster
Have one from simply rugged, and it has held up well, but has loosened up, and just does not hold the gun as tightly as I would wish.
So I’m in the market for a new holster. Something that looks nice."Cives Arma Ferant"

Can't go wrong with a Sparks holster.

I don't want to talk you out of buying a new toy but it is easy to shrink a holster to tighten it back up. Just soak it in warm water and let it dry in a warm place (not hot and not in the sun). I would try wetting just the interior first to make sure it doesn't shrink too much.

I'm a fan of the Askins Avenger style 1911 Holster. Bianchi created the original. Sadly, Bianchi/Safariland don't offer the #4 any longer. Looks like Bianchi has a new company offering the Avenger again, however.

I would call Simply Rugged and ask them what to do. I have never had any problems with the ones I have bought over the years and the owner, Rob Leahy, takes his business seriously and may have a fix for you.

Re: Need a new 1911 officer model leather holster
Water can do two things. If you wet leather you can stretch and mold it to a shape and when it dries the leather retains that shape. But if it is wet and allowed to dry on its own it shrinks. You will need to experiment where and how much to soak it and sometimes the waterproof finishes complicate things. I would start by filling the holster with warm water and letting it soak for a few min. Then dump it out and let it dry. If it is still loose soak it longer next time. Too tight wrap your pistol in plastic wrap and let it sit for a few days (dry).
