Colt Delta Elite 10mm
My LGS has a Colt Delta Elite in 10mm 1911 style pistol available for $1099. I know this one holds 8+1 of 10mm whereas the 10mm Glocks hold 15+1. The low capacity is making me hesitate to get it. What do you guys think? By the way this would be my first 10mm.

Re: Colt Delta Elite 10mm
The Delta Elite has been one of my bucket list guns going back quite a number of years. It wouldn't be my sole carry gun so I wouldn't make too much out of it's capacity.
Though I would have it in carrying rotation somewhat it would be more of a collection item for me.There are no pacts between lions and men.

Re: Colt Delta Elite 10mm
They have a reputation for beating themselves to death, how substantiated that is I don't know. Unless you really need to have a colt I'd suggest a Rock Island for a 10mm 1911, in normal times you could find one for $400 or so.
That being said the g20 is a much more practical gun, almost twice the capacity and nowhere near the same weight.

Re: Colt Delta Elite 10mm
Most , I said most of todays 10mm ammo is watered down to just above .40 S&W levels. The early Delta's didn't hold up well to the original 10mm loads which were really quite hot. Some of today's 10mm loads are a bit warmer , but not as hot as the original Norma loadings.

Re: Colt Delta Elite 10mm
I feel today's hot loads are a good bit more powerful then the original loadings. Personally I load mine with 155 gr noslers @ 1600fps. I wouldn't trust a delta elite to eat a steady diet of these. I have complete faith in my RIA tac2 though. I've had all three 10mm Glocks. The G20 and my 1911 both handle the recoil easily. The G40MOS felt like shooting a 9mm. Id skip the Colt. For 1099 you could buy a Kimber tac ops 2 or Eclipse in 10mm. You could buy 2 Glock 20s. Or a 20 and a 29 for carry. You could buy 2 RIAs.

Re: Colt Delta Elite 10mm
I have well over 15k rounds through two Glock 29's.
No issues to speak of
They do run better with a max of 9 in the magazine and ammo rated at 1250 fps max.
SigAmmo 10mm runs great in these guns.
If you are used to 45acp recoil, then 10mm is no big step up.

You will always want that delta if you buy the others. And vise versa.
