9MM conversion kit for my wife---thoughts
What's your thoughts on this? My wife is petite and she doesn't like the recoil of a 9MM handgun and she's too small for an AR-15 and other rifles. I want he to have some sort of defense that's got less recoil, more accurate and the ability for magazines. She does like shooting her S&W 686 (Revolver) but I feel against SHTF scenario it's just not enough. Please advise thoughts or options....

Re: 9MM conversion kit for my wife---thoughts
Maybe it's just me, but my 9mm ARs feel like the same recoil as my 556s. I can't imagine a lighter setup starting with a pistol would feel any different, all though I've admittedly never tried one.

How about an AR 9mm pistol?

These pistol chassis work pretty good for stabilization and getting several points of contact which will make controlling recoil better. Going AR 9 pistol isn’t going to be much different then this in the felt recoil dpt unless you go with a CMMG Banshee or MP5 type set up because they are roller delayed making them smooth shooters compared to standard blow back AR9’s.
If you want to stay handgun consider the S&W Shield EZ in .380. My 12 year old daughter can handle it all on her own and shoot it pretty well. She’s tall but very thin and it has very little recoil. The biggest draw back is finding .380 right now.

My wife is very recoil adverse, and after test firing a number of pistols she fell in love with the Fn 5.7

Ruger Charger pistol in 9mm or even .22, side folding brace? Don't knock .22! It might not have a lot of so-called knock down power but which of us would continue to harass someone slinging 30 rds of .22 at us with accuracy?? lso not a lot of blast or noise and no recoil. Easy to shoot well.

You should have her try shooting an M1 carbine. They are light and compact and the recoil is negligible. My girls were comfortable shooting one when they were in middle school and it is my go to rifle (after a .22) to bring to the range for women and smaller shooters.

What kind of gun are you talking about?
A handgun converted to 9mm?
9mm AR15s have more recoil than 5.56 because they are direct blowback.
I honestly don't notice it much, but that's what they say.
My wife can't shoot rifles because of their weight.
She has back issues and while she COULD shoot one in an emergency, shooting one at the range is not happening.
I built her a lightweight AR15 carbine which she can shoot.
That said, it's still not her preferred gun, and honestly, it's too long to be practical indoors.
I've been picking up parts over the last year or two, but In light of current events, I recently got the remaining few pieces needed to complete a 9mm AR PISTOL because I want something here that we both can use for home defense besides a 9mm handgun.
I think she will be able to handle a 5.5" barreled AR just fine.
Should know in a few weeks.I called to check my ZIP CODE!....DY-NO-MITE!!!
