Just making sure. You seemed a bit agro over what appeared to me to be pretty benign. But, sometimes stuff just grinds your gears, I suppose. But, out of all the members here to get fired up over, I wouldn't rate Scruff in the top 50. Hell, I'd get pissed at myself before I'd get edged at Scruff. I mean......it's Scruff.

I do agree that the rifle, if mine, would be attributed with its own anthropomorphic persona and gain a position of respect in the household. But, I'm not KR and I've never walked a mile in his shoes after shooting three people during a crazy-assed riot. I'm apt to give the kid a LOT of slack for the huge raft of shit he's had to navigate.

Condescending? Dissing S&W? Not at all. I have an M&P 15T myself, along with an M&P 15-22, and they're great guns. But let's face it - there's nothing special about a bone-stock $600 entry-level AR bought at a sporting goods store. It's not like he's melting down a premium weapon or a family heirloom.

What I'm against is mind-reading the reasons behind Kyle destroying the gun. Yeah, cut him some slack. I can't imagine what he's been through, to be attacked by a murderous mob, hounded by the entire mainstream media and political Left, and abused by the judicial system. If disposing of the gun helps him get past all this trauma, then more power to him! You've supported him up until now, so I hope you'd feel the same.

I don't think Kyle is a gun guy, I think he is someone who had a gun when he needed one and not much more than that. While most of us see this event as a cleansing of society, I think he sees it as an unfortunate circumstance.
If it were me I would Incase the gun in glass and hang it on the wall with a brass plaque that reads "Fuck around and find out".
But it's not my gun and I wasn't there and he's probably a better person than I am.

It's a miracle that he got hits on target exactly when he needed them, he didn't injure any innocents, he didn't do anything to negate his self-defense claim, and every second was caught on video. I'm thinking the gun is an instrument of divine intervention. That would be reason enough for me to not melt it down.
