That sucks. A few pages ago I said I would pay $10000 for it, that still stands.
The money can go right into his defense fund so he's not profiting.

If his friend who did the "straw purchase" is being prosecuted for the purchase, then the rifle is arguably contraband and can be forfeited.

I'd give this a 50/50 chance of what is really happening, His lawyers are trying to paint him as a "Richie Cunningham/Potsie Weber" stay nice, stay grey and neutral kind of guy, maybe a few sound bites to appease them so the left will maybe let him fade away. Meanwhile they are sharpening their talons and fangs for the defamation lawsuits. I'm sure the target grid is choosing the easiest win and the biggest payouts respectively. The first few will have a good blend of both of these. after a few big wins the non litigated settlements will start pouring in

If they are charging the friend for a straw purchase, the rifle would be evidence. Destroy the rifle = no evidence

Yes the record of the sale is proof that it occurred

But the state, presumably, is physically and knowingly destroying a major piece of evidence

It would maybe be a different story if the gun was lost, stolen or never recovered, but intentional destruction of evidence might give the defense attorney something to work with

According to court testimony the legal owner of the rifle is Dominic Black. As the government is in possession of the rifle, and as they were claiming that Dominic was the rightful owner, I seriously doubt they*re going to turn it over to Kyle under any circumstance.

I think that rifle should be put up for auction and let the free market set the value. Then the proceeds can be given to a charity of Black's and/or Rittenhouse's choosing, anonymously if necessary.

If it still has any of the criminals blood splatter still on it , it would add to the provenance, kinda like a battlefield pickup or trophy
