Re: POF Renegade 7.62x39 upper quality control ...
That's why IF I buy something vs building, I send that shit back for replacement or refund rather than trying to fix it myself.
Once you start dicking with it and realize there's a big issue with manufacturing/etc, well, you voided the "warranty" by dicking around with it.I called to check my ZIP CODE!....DY-NO-MITE!!!

Re: POF Renegade 7.62x39 upper quality control ...
I don't trust that. I've sent guns in for service a few times, sent parts for replacement, and rarely has the issue actually been resolved. My interaction with POF especially did not inspire confidence. "A 15% restocking fee MAY apply" likely meaning they're not gonna actually look at it or test it because they didn't before it left their factory and charge me 15% of what I paid for the piece of shit to take it back. I used a round file and some tapered grinding bits to fix the feed ramps tonight but the upper is a lost cause in my mind. After everything I've done with it, how many times I've had it apart in the last few weeks, my guess is that the gas block was and will continue to be the issue. I can wiggle the gas tube and when the taper pin that secures it to the block is tapped out, I can pull it out without any force. I had to use a punch and hammer to get the gas tube out of my other upper's block when I replaced it with an adjustable version. My experience with every other gas block I've worked with is that they fit tight. Presumably so all the gas you need for your gun to run doesn't leak out.

Re: POF Renegade 7.62x39 upper quality control ...
I just bought one of their 7.62x39 barrels for less than $150 shipped. I wanted a Middy, but Faxon has been out for a while. So I figured, *what the hell* and ordered it. I*ve assembled several variations in 7.62x39 and am familiar with trouble shooting and likely culprits as well as the remedies. I can*t say I*d drop the cabbage on an upper from them, especially after what I read here. However, I*ll try out the barrel and hope it*s not as much of a PITA that you endured.
Within the next few days I*ll grab some bolts and check the headspace with each. Hopefully I’ll be able to go from there in a timely manner and get to the range before long.
