Re: oddball caliber: good idea?
5.7x28 was becoming hard to find before covid thanks to the Ruger 57 hitting the market. I debated buying a couple more cases of SS198, but decided not to, hoping things would even out later in the year. Well that didn't go as planned. You can't get any cases of anything and the price for a box of FN SS917 is $50. On the plus side, I'm well stocked as it is with a variety of ammo. The downside is it's very easy to get into plinking mode with 5.7x28. Gotta remind myself it's not .22lr.

Re: oddball caliber: good idea?
I think having an oddball caliber is a good idea in our hobby. It makes going to swap meets and gun shows more interesting. Most of my 10mil ammo was purchased this way. Only way I can afford to feed the Glock 29SF which is SWEET!
EDIT,I should add: Only if you appreciate and are a fan of recoil. If a hot 357mag or 44mag juices you up the G29 is a blast.

.32 ACP , 5.7 FN , 10mm are oddballs?
You guys need to look thru a copy of Barnes Cartridges of the World.
And there's no such thing as hard to find ammo for a handloader.I don't speak English , I talk American!

Re: oddball caliber: good idea?
I realize my definition of odd ball is different than others. Basically the norm for me is 22lr,22mag,38,357,44mag,45lc in revolvers. Autos would be 32,380,9,40 and 45acp. This is just me.
I sold off all my reloading equipment years ago. So for me 10 mil is my only odd ball.
I used to have 38S&W. 9mil makarov and even a 44special. I could find these at gun shops but not as prevalent or as easily as standard calibers
