Re: Are ultrasonic gun cleaners just hype?
It doesn't look like the Harbor Freight coupon works on the one posted above. Oh well.
The cycles are only a couple of minutes long compared to the 20 minute cycle of the RCBS. That's a huge difference.

Re: Are ultrasonic gun cleaners just hype?
I have the Hornady Lock and Load. Works great on parts that fit into it. My Ruger MKII upper had to be done with being only partly submerged, then turned around to get the other end.
My PPS M2 slide came out with what looked like the finish damaged, but I think it was a residue from the Simple green. After a wipe down with clp, it looks fine.

Mine works great to get every last little bit off/out.
I bought a bigger/fancier model than the HF one. Good strong/relatively fast heater & you set the cycle time to whatever you want. The basin is about 24 x 12 x 6 inches deep.
I typically heat the solution to 120-140 and run it 40-60 minutes depending how dirty.
Like Hodgie, I just use Simple Green for the solution & have had no problems.DGAF
