    Angry CZ-75 mags!

Figured I start carrying my pre-B CZ-75 9mm for awhile. Had some brand new MecGar 16rd mags , so I loaded a few and when I went to test them , I couldn't get them in the magwell! 2 went partially in , but would not come out! WTF?

    Got out the calipers.

    Side to side = .800"- OK , front to back = 1.254" - OK , diagonally , uh-oh! Orig mag = 1.360" , new mags = 1.385"

Seems the bend radius in the front corners of the new mags was a bit sharper. A radius gage confirmed this and some Black marker on the front corners was rubbed right off.

Seems like a bit of whittling with a small diameter round chain saw file is in order!

From what I remember standard current production CZ75-B mags will not fit any Pre B model, and finding Pre-B mags is a bitch and costly. One mag came with my import pre-b and that's the only mag it's going to have at the time I purchased it which was about 3 years ago well used spare mags were being sold for $45.00.

The Pre-B pistols also have the mag break in them which stops the mags from always dropping free as well and that will also affect trying to seat a new 75B mag.

Just a few swipes in the front corners with a round chainsaw file is showing promise. Gotta take the mag catch out.

I got 2 mags with my pistol , 1 has the last 3 digits of the ser.no. on it.

I got lucky. The newer Mec-Gar mags I bought fit my 1991 Pre-B I bought NIB five or so years ago. Many either have to get pre-B mags or slightly modify the magwell. If you do a search for it you can come up with he instructions.

Are you putting them in the right way? The bullet should be pointing toward the front of the gun.

Not extensive at all. Like I said earlier , just gotta put a smaller radius in the front corners. I'm using a 3/16" dia round file. Wrapped some 220~320 grit around the file for the finishing touch. Hardest part is taking out and replacing the mag catch.
