Re: LTCF Clarification
in another way of saying it, an LTCF does cover all firearms but rifles/shotguns are not considered firearms rather long guns by definition.
just the same as long guns can be sold privately without a background check but firearms require one.
and an AR must be unloaded in a car but an AR pistol can remain loaded with an ltcf.
most of this was stated already and it was also my understanding. but the lawyer is the one to listen to.There is no way to make it out alive...

Re: LTCF Clarification
In this context. The definition of firearms changes with context. Some circumstances long guns are defined as firearms. Also non shot gun shotguns and nfa fall under ltcf. Pistol versions of rifles also. However carry things you wouldn't mind being locked up in evidence rooms, is my advice. Ianal

Re: LTCF Clarification
There is even a sticky (does anyone actually pay attention to those?) in the General sub-forum about what does the word "firearms" mean in various sections of the laws:
Definitions of "Firearms"
https://forum.pafoa.org/showthread.php?t=49643
In particular, for purposes related to the LTCF, "firearms" means:
PA Title 18 Chapter 61 (Uniform Firearms Act)
Section 6102 Definitions
Firearm: "Any pistol or revolver with a barrel length less than 15 inches, any shotgun with a barrel length less than 16 inches, or ant pistol, revolver, rifle or shotgun with an overall length of less than 26 inches. The barrel length of a firearm shall be determined by measuring from the muzzle of the barrel to the face of the closed action, bolt or cylinder, whichever is applicable."

Re: LTCF Clarification
Yeah, but the whole SOE situation certainly creates confusion. Since 2018, you need the LTCF to even carry "long guns", but even so, you still cannot have them loaded in/on a vehicle. It's certainly not surprising that so many people don't have a clear picture of what the law requires.

Re: LTCF Clarification
Never understood the point other than "control".There are two kinds of guns. Those I have acquired, and those I hope to.
