Can still reload pretty inexpensively and have plenty of primers and powder.

Have you tried to find reloading components? They're as unobtanium as ammo. And it's only getting worse.

Umm yeah I bought those too back when prices were cheap and supplies were plentiful.

However just for kicks I bought thousands of 9mm nickel cases to make more.

Just picked up 200 rounds of 855FL's from Dunkelbergers this morning.

For me its not so much being able to afford to, its if I can find ammo or if I really want to dig into my stash. And since its 'no' to either question, I just wind up spending my cash on my other hobbies. At the very least, if I'm not looking for anything than some poor bastard who just got into shooting might have a tiny bit better of a chance trying to find something.

The thing about this is that if you got burned this time, you know better to set up for next time. Buy cheap stack it deep, learn to reload your own. I always try to find the positive out of the bad.

Thats definitely something to keep in mind. I go through swings where Ill shoot a lot for a couple months, then barely shoot at all for a year or 2. Seems everytime I decide to start shooting alot again, ammo prices get horrific.

Yep, buy it cheap and stack it deep applies to components as well as ammo. Last fall Midway had a sale on primers, plus free ship and five buck hazmat. I bought about 15k just to top off the inventory.
