Elmwood park zoo and surrounding area.
Taking my kids to the Elmwood park zoo today in Norristown. I see it’s 15 miles away from Philly, asking how the area is and if there is anything decent to eat or well known (Cheese steaks?), and perhaps other family friendly places around that area or close (not in Philly) that might be opened and fun after we are done?

Re: Elmwood park zoo and surrounding area.
Pudge's would get my vote for best cheese steak. Their last known location to me was on 202 north of Norristown in Blue Bell. It's been years so they might not even be around anymore. There's a place called Lou's (at least there used to be), on east main street in Norristown that was popular with the locals for his hoagies or zeps or whatever he calls them. I don't know what that 'hood is like these days but it didn't used to be too bad (safe during the day anyway). I can't really think of anything else worth seeing unless you want to drop by Valley Forge Park. They have a visitor's center that could use up a little time, then you could decide if you wanted to cruise any of the park or not.

If you are in the mood for a good cheesesteak, Pudge's is hard to beat... Easy to get to from the zoo also, just go up Swede Road until it hits 202 and then it is not far on the right. Don't know if they are doing eat in at this time though.

Thanks guys.
Looks like Pudges is take out or delivery only and I’m sure they won’t taste great after an hour and a half to two hours later when we get home depending on traffic. The web site made my mouth water though.

A Pudge's large cheezesteak can feed a family of 4!
Forget the name , but there's a little Italian place directly across from the new PENNDOT D/L center on Swede that's excellent. Just around the corner from Elmwood.I don't speak English , I talk American!

Amedeos Too on Main st/Ridge pike and Egypt road intersection has great 18" cheesesteaks as well.
The best are the 18" cheesesteaks over at Hog Island in Pheonixville. Solid cuts of beef fresh sliced in house.
