I get all the discussion about legally open carrying on school grounds. For the sake of argument, let's say it's OK. But who wants to be demonized by the media and all over the Interwebs to fight that battle? Maybe I'm a wuss, but not me.

I open carry to the polls. And as long as I've got the job, as long as they aren't acting inappropriately, everybody else can as well.

Last time around, my poll was in a school.

I really do find that interesting. By saying, 'as long as I've got the job', what does that mean?

I'm a constable. I'm required by law to be at the polls, and I show up in my duty uniform, which includes my carry pistol in a retention holster. My job that day is to keep the peace and make sure that no qualified voter is denied access to the polls.

We're elected for 6 year terms. I've got just about 1 more year until I'm up for re-election.

I would guess that people view you like a police officer then, and I applaud that you would not have issue with others carrying there.

We have constables?!?!?!? And here I thought that was one of those imaginary things like Santa Claus, the tooth fairy, and the Queen of England.

The Constable or any election official can summon the police for assistance at the polling place.

No apology needed, its all good! As for the Police just hanging around you are correct, they cant do that. Some place's wont even allow Police cars parked near the poling location.

Carrying while in LEO uniform is a totally different thing than for someone in regular clothes. Not legally, perceptually.
