Default How to legally set up a range in Phila, need help.

I own a 15 acre property in the city and looking to set up a short shipping container range for personal use. Does anyone have any idea on where to start a journey like this with obtaining the proper permits from the city?
    Thanks

You'll very likely have to start with the appropriate city licensing office....who will likely laugh you out of there given the city's stance on anything gun related.

I didn't expect that there could be 15 privately owned contiguous acres within the Philthytown city limits.

Lets presume you know how to build out the container...

Also, you will be able to mitigate any noise coming from said container.

Disguise the outside of said container to make it look like a rusting pile of metal.

Why do you need a permit?

Probably the best route to go.

Private owner target ranges fall under State law and Title 34 of the Pennsylvania Game Code spells out some of the requirements and rules. Pay special attention to 34 Pa.C.S. § 2507, Restrictions on shooting as well as 34 Pa.C.S. § 2505, Safety Zones. I am sure the City would apply additional requirements, such as noise, time of operation, and further safety requirements that would probably either be impossible to achieve or cost prohibitive. I would think they would require sky baffles to prevent a gun from being pointed above the berm, a berm height a multiple of the highest possible shooting angle, lead abatement and capture requirements as well as a sufficient down range buffer to other properties. You could probably buy a lifetime membership to every shooting club in Philadelphia and the surrounding counties for less than the potential costs. Just my two cents.

Why not build an underground range. Poured concrete walls can be made as long as you want. Cap it with concrete and plant grass on top. It will blend right in. Make your own ventilation system. While your at it make a bunker too.
