Maybe I'm being a bit naive here, but I'm kinda surprised we were at 32, despite our "blue leadership" status.

Considering we're at #2 in most concealed carry licenses nationally, I call BS on that opinion ranking, even with Tom Wolf.

Considering 16 or so states are constitutional carry we automatically fall below them imo. A lot of states allow people to sell handguns to others citizens of their states without background checks. I would say that is a big plus in their column. A lot of states have open carry including in a car without a permit. A plus in their favor. The whole Philadelphia preemption thing is a strike against Pa.

Compared to states like New York, New Jersey, Maryland, California etc.... we look good. Ltcf is shall issue, No magazine limits or permits to buy guns plus all the other hoops some states have. But there are a lot of states that have things going for them that make them a little more desirable

    Pennsylvania is a good State.

Until a few years ago, we were higher on the list. Other states got better, mostly by eliminating Jim Crow restrictions.

And many states higher on the list have lots of gotchas that Pennsylvania doesn*t have. Constitutional carry sounds nice, until you realize you can*t carry all the places you normally go.

Like needing permission to carry I church, or being unable to at all (Georgia)

Or being unable to carry in a bar.

Or any place that sells alcohol: which is nearly every gas station, grocery store, or restaurant. (Texas).

I think, if you made a detailed study, Pennsylvania would come out much higher. The only places in the State where you can not lawfully carry are places where people are locked up, and the rooms and hallways next to them.

How many other states can you carry in a school?

For example as he noted: VA is now lower then us as info is old.

Maine has duty to retreat, but is better then us???

LA has expensive permits. Can*t go anywhere.

    And so on

Yup. PA didn't get lower because it got worse.
PA got lower because other states got better.

I just took a quick glance at my 2020 Traveler's Guide to the Firearm Laws of the Fifty States.
And looking at the rating of each state at the top of their page.
On a scale of 0 to 100. PA has a rating of 80.
There are 34 states with higher ratings than PA.

Wait, people are surprised we aren't ranked higher? Hell, I'm surprised by that. First of all, there's Tom Wolf and his perpetual states of emergency. Then there's the 'not a registry' registry. Then there's the asinine vehicle carry laws which make transporting even unloaded firearms basically illegal without a LTCF, in most circumstances. Also, for that reason, open carry without a license is pretty much illegal, unless you walk everywhere you go.

Let's not forget the character clause, which makes it possible for a sheriff to deny anyone on a whim, despite not being statutorily prohibited. Oh but we're shall issue, yea... ok. And then there's Philadelphia, i'm not even gonna go there... literally.

If all that wasn't enough, we're surrounded by blue states and in constant danger of going full retard our selves at any moment. The Republicans we do have in congress are spineless, so any chance of making forward progress is pretty much non existent. Its only a matter of time until things get worse. Hell, it only took Kathlene Kane to wipe out our reciprocity agreements with basically everyone.

But you guys are satisfied? This is what freedom looks like to you? Not me, I'm not at all impressed.
