Default Northampton County Jury Duty Question

    Asking for a friend,
Does anyone know the proceedure for concealed carry while serving jury duty in Northampton County?
Does the court provide a locker or a safe to secure the weapon? or does one simply declare to the deputies?
Like I said, asking for a friend,
thanks to all that have time to help.

By law, the courthouse must provide a locker. Hopefully someone who's been there can describe the Northampton procedure, but typically you would just tell the deputies before you attempt to go through security (key point here..) that you have a LTCF and you'd like to check it in.

Last time I was at Northampton County Courthouse there were no lockers. Once I notified the deputy that I had to check a firearm, I was directed to wait outside by the county sign. Two deputies eventually showed up and ask for my firearm, they removed the mag, unloaded it and put it in to a little briefcase deal. Then filed out a receipt for me. When I left the courthouse, I advised them I wanted my firearm back. Again, wait outside. After what seemed like about 20 or 30 minutes they finally showed up with the briefcase with my gun. I was told not to load it until I was home. So I put the bullet in the chamber, closed the slide and inserted the mag and holstered. That was my experience, I hope yours is better.

I've been to Susquehanna County courthouse also. Declare your firearm, lockers are right there, Insert gun, take the key with you. When you leave the courthouse, unlock , take you gun and you're off to the rodeo. No fuss, no muss.

Don't load it until you are home. Deputies have an amazing amount of authority there.

Nothing in the law allows them to require you to unload your firearm, or handle it at all. Nor can they require you to unload it. They providing storage is the only requirement, and a briefcase doesn*t meet what the Law requires.

Maybe the problem is, nothing in law prevents them from doing it.
