Default THE COUNT DOWN IS ON! Hunting Season 2020-2021

Well, it's approaching the best time of year again: Hunting Season in PA!

For those of us down in 5C the season is just around the corner!

    I'm personally hunting:

    Deer
Archery Buck and Doe - Using a Hoyt RX-3 #70 compound or a Hoyt Axius #70, rage broadheads.
Rifle if archery season doesnt go well - Remington 700 in .308

Goal: one 180lb+ buck, a decent sized doe

    Pheasant
Using a Browning Maxus or Citori, 12ga, 2 3/4" golden pheasant in the tubes

Goal: 12 birds on the season (2 per day limit), got 11 last year, why not 1 more?

    Dove
Browning 525 Field 20ga or Browning Cynergy 28ga

Goal: Have fun, work the pup!

What season are you hunting? What are you using? What're your goals?
I'm only here for the wood c-rings.

I've got tags for 5d, 1 for 4c. Be mostly archery hunting with the crossbow, wicked ridge rdx400. Plan to hit 4c later in the season with the rifle. Probaby take either my 45-70 or 35 rem.

Two tags for 3D and I may go for a 3rd in 5C if I decide to add archery on and get a crossbow.

Supposedly I have access to new area which is over 200 acres of unhunted private land that’s backed up to or surrounded by protected land. I was told that per the owner there is a lot of everything you need a tag for and even more of the things you don’t like coyotes which he’s actually having a problem with.

Bolt action options for this year.

    Deer and Coyote options:
    Ruger American Predator in .308.
    Ruger American Ranch in 7.62x39

    Semi auto options when permitted:
You name it I got it.

    Shot Gun for Turkey:
    Mossberg 535 12ga because it’s all I have.

Ordered my 1st LVPO FFP scope yesterday which may work out well for Coyotes and I will see at the range if it’s precise enough for deer.

I don't get excited until the mercury in the am drops into the 30's. Then it's game on.

I will stick with PA since a few of my choices won't work in NY.

Dove: New to me late 60s Remington 870 Wingmaster in 20 gauge
Goal: Avoid being bitten by mosquitoes

Archery: Team Hoyt Bro.....Rage in the cage.....
Goal: Avoid being bitten by mosquitoes and black legged ticks

    Early Muzzleloader Deer/Bear: T/C
Goal: Walk at least five miles a day and avoid being bitten by black legged ticks.
See my oldest shoot her first muzzleloader doe

Regular Deer: Ruger Super Blackhawk .44
Goal: To not tumble from a tree stand, get bitten by a black legged tick or have either happen to my daughter.

    Flintlock: T/C PA Hunter Carbine
Goal: See folks I don't get to see much and walk all over McKean County

Late Small Game: Ruger Single Six
Goal: Pretend I am squirrel hunting to see folks I don't get to see much and walk all over McKean County

That about covers it. I should kill some deer in NY. PA has become a social gathering for me.

I get the sense that you don't like mosquitos or ticks. Don't go to Alaska.

What Hoyt you shooting? What Rage bh's?

I have Lyme disease...blah. Avoiding bugs in the early seasons is my main goal. I enjoy the time outdoors. It has been so damn warm the last few years. Old Hoyt Charger with Rage Hypodermics. The combo has not let me down.

Deer and bear will get it either with Mission 320 crossbow or S&W 629 this year.

Fall turkey, I*ve got a PITA Jake that like to fight himself in the reflection of my basement window. He has to go!

I*ve got no western trips planned this year, so lots of local hunting.

Main goal is to get first archery deer. Doesn't matter buck or doe (of course, I wouldn't mind a buck)

Shooting a Bowtech Realm with 150gr VPA 3 solid blade broad heads (490gr total weight, 18% FOC).
For firearms season, it'll be either a Winchester Model 70 270 or an Ithaca 37 slug gun.

Squirrel will probably be my Savage Mark II or my tactical AR squirrel gun.

If I do waterfowl, it'll be Ithaca 37, Benelli SBEII, or Ithaca Mag 10 (I wanna get just 1 goose with it)
