Have you ever seen anything like this?
My 930 SPX is a piece of shit. It's been useless since June because it stopped feeding from the magazine and despite replacing all kinds of parts and trying all sorts of things, it still doesn't work. Well, today I got optimistic and thought I could give the 930 another shot. I took it out of the safe, hit the bolt release, and it tried feeding the follower and spring from the magazine. Yes, that's a 12 gauge follower and I've had it for about a year. It won't feed rounds from the magazine when it's fully loaded but it will try feeding the follower and magazine into the chamber. I want to throw this gun into a river or off of a mountain. The only conclusion I can come to is that it's haunted or otherwise cursed haha. All of the parts that are involved with feeding are either in working order or have been replaced but still, it doesn't work. I give up. I still have my 870.

Well you know, Misery loves shotguns! +3 on the shell stop. Think you'll need a new spring too

After you fix it, if you want to sell now is the time because these are going for a pretty good price.

Re: Have you ever seen anything like this?
I had the exact same problem with a Smith and Wesson Super 1000 which was made by Howa of Japan. The Model was later adopted by Mossberg as the Mossberg 1000. I tried replacing the shell stop and the trigger group's feed ramp spring and dog but to no avail. I finally fixed the problem by replacing the shell stop plate spring and hair pin retainer. The 930 appears to be one of the Turkish imports and may have a similar set up.

Re: Have you ever seen anything like this?
After considering the problem and watching a few videos I think the problem is with either the magazine follower itself or the piece that stops the magazine follower called the forend retainer. Even if the shell stop was having spring tension problems and jamming from shells there's no way the magazine follower should be able to clear the forend retainer and make it into the receiver from the magazine tube. Is the follower or the forend retainer an aftermarket part? That's where I'd focus my attention.

Re: Have you ever seen anything like this?
I must have been lucky, I have had a S&W Super 1000 for decades without a problem. The Mossberg 930 that I had, on the other hand, gave me no end of trouble. I did manage to get it to work somewhat reliably by replacing the shell stop - then I sold it before it could develop more problems. I'm looking for a reliable semi-auto 12 GA for trap, but if you want wood stocks, the LOP is usually too long for me. I hate to saw good wood.
