Jerry Miculek - the future of buffers
Anybody heard of this company or tried one?
https://www.omnirobusta.com/shop
Doesn't appear to be obnoxiously over priced.
I couldn't resist. I just bought the standard gen 2 buffer. No tax charged. Free shipping. I'll post an update when i get it and then when i get it to the range.

Re: Jerry Miculek - the future of buffers
I reached out to the company with a few questions. I had a response maybe an hour later.
I asked if lubricating the brass rod was necessary. I was told it is not but it would not hurt anything if i chose to.
I also asked if loctite or any other thread locker was necessary for the set screw. Again, i was told, it isn't necessary because the screw is under a load. But if it made me feel better, i could use thread locker to keep it in place.

Ingenious, that's a pretty slick idea. I guess I won't be storing any floppy disks in my rifle bag

Maybe someone can combine this idea with the silent spring, as long as it doesn*t cost $250 I*m game!

Re: Jerry Miculek - the future of buffers
Looks pretty interesting though I'd be a bit worried about the small surface area contact with the end of the buffer tube. Is it a solid piece or just the edges of smaller piece?

Re: Jerry Miculek - the future of buffers
It has to contact the end of the buffer tube or else it won't actually work. Watch the 2nd video (the one rockisland linked) and you can see that it would be a soft contact between the buffer tube and the brass rod. Between the magnets and the buffer spring, you should be able to mitigate any slamming of the buffer and the buffer tube.

Re: Jerry Miculek - the future of buffers
The buffer shouldn't hit the back end of the tube. The theory is the two separate parts can move somewhat independently; the inner piece will provide progressive resistance in the beginning as the outer unit is accelerating backwards, about mid-travel you've got the full weight of both as inertia, once the assembly slows, as the buffer spring is compressed, the reverse occurs and the maximum inertia occurs towards the end or travel (like a 2 stage damper). As it all moves forward the entire process occurs again.
