Is the buffer spring not used with this?

Nevermind. I watched the "Jerry" vid again real quick. I see that it still uses the spring.
I called to check my ZIP CODE!....DY-NO-MITE!!!

Watch the 2nd video (the one rockisland linked) and you can see that it would be a soft contact between the buffer tube and the brass rod. Between the magnets and the buffer spring, you should be able to mitigate any slamming of the buffer and the buffer tube.

Ok in the 2nd video I can see it better. My question was more if the brass piece was a solid rod or a pipe.

I suspect it is neither but instead a machined piece. Otherwise the rod would be ejected from the aluminum part by the force of the opposing magnets. I also suspect the brass is where the weight for the buffer comes from. But i have to believe it is probably hollowed out since brass is fairly dense. And the standard buffer doesn't weigh all that much.

I believe they rate the buffer for 30,000 rounds which is more than most people will ever put through the life of their AR15 (probably including myself).

I believe the idea is solid and it should work better, the question is the quality of manufacture, longevity of the materials and was fouling considered...
(I'm not being negative on the product or the manufacturer, just wondering out loud)

I*m sold on the Armaspec Sound Mitigation Buffer assy. I have one in H2 weight. Incredible quality, and no more annoying *TWANG* from the buffer tube. Oh...and it*s $44 total!

Buffer finally showed up today. Not sure if the holdup was with the post office or what.

    So interesting things to note:
The plunger on mine is aluminum. This is likely because I got the standard carbine weight buffer since I'll be running on mid length and rifle length systems and this is what they recommended.
No Allen key is included. Not a big deal. I have a pile of them.
It does come with what appears to be a nice instruction sheet even though it is fairly self explanatory.
The resistance feels pretty good on the unit.

I won't be able to get to the range until possibly this weekend if the weather is nice. Otherwise it'll be next weekend.

I'll compare it to the stock carbine buffer with 55 grain ammo through my midlength s&w m&p15t. The thing is pretty heavy as it is. But if this works well, it is going to end up in the lighter weight build I'm finishing up (just need a barrel, gas tube, gas block, and handguard).

As promised, I'd post an update when i got this thing out to the range.

I sighted in my s&w m&p15t. I was shooting fiocchi and federal 55 grain.

First with the stock buffer. Got the gun sighted in and then switched to the new magna buffer.

It definitely works. It came set almost all of the way in giving the most resistance. It really reduced the recoil. I turned it in the remaining half turn and this was enough to cause intermittent short stroking. Backed the screw back out and it resumed functioning normally.

I'm thinking that last turn is pretty sensitive. But I'm definitely going to get another one. Probably the h1 weight so that i can run it hopefully without it being all of the way screwed in.

The description said a vague "reduces recoil" but have you noticed that your SMB does that at all?
