Default Re: Philly NINE MONTH waiting list to apply for LTCF

Just to add to the thread...I’m aware of Mr. Finell and the GOA suit...

Yesterday I contacted the Delaware County Sheriff’s Department because the county website says to call to make an appointment to apply for a license to carry permit. I was told to come in with my application on, get this...March 2nd, 2021. This doesn’t seem right...as it seems to go against the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania constitution...

I know it’s 45 days after applying, but it’s really outrageous, making us wait that long to have the right to protect ourselves without breaking any laws of our own accord...

    Best Regards,
    Dave

Does the Philly PD control those offices now too?

I feel everyone's pain waiting for renewal. Fortunately, I'm good for a few years yet. I did just apply and wait for an Arizona non-res permit so I can carry in Delaware...it took about 75 days. I was complaining about that wait time, but in light of Philly, DELCO and other PA county wait times, I'll be quiet now!

I think the court has ruled it illegal for a wait such as this. I don't recall the state but when there was a long wait for permits they permitted anyone to carry during that period and they stated rubber stamping permits & processing them later - so don't lie on them.
I would think a lawsuit could clear this up - sue them for withholding constitutional rights - this whole permit thing is BS in general anyway. Some counties are already granting permits same day if you submit application that doesn't disqualify you.

Yes, it is outrageous. We are hoping the GOA Philly lawsuit will have a domino effect across the Commonwealth.

That would be nice but I'd expect the each to force us minions to sue them since there is no real penalty for their infractions.

I was unfortunate enough to have a lapsed LTCF when the pandemic hit.

But I was fortunate enough to be in the position to spend thousands of dollars in attorney fees against the city on this matter. While my case was ongoing, the city began their email application process, I obtained my LTCF, and we have since shelved my case.

I understand that several individuals like myself had brought legal action against the city and had indicated willingness and means to fight the matter to conclusion. It was a matter of principle. I also understand that the Firearms Policy Coalition played a meaningful role in the final outcome.

Thanks to the FPC, GOA, individuals putting up their own $$, and even police within the GPU who helped get this over the goal line. Let’s call it a *team win* and keep up the good fight.
