Default Primers are made in Italy?

Article appeared on my phone about ammo shortages, and basically attributed it to a shortage of primers. The piece stated that primers are made in Italy, and that industry has been drastically affected by the corona virus. It went on to say that ammo makers are placing priorities on military and law enforcement needs.
There are two kinds of guns. Those I have acquired, and those I hope to.

B.S. on the primers being made over there. Supposedly, a chemical component used in the priming compound is made in italy.

Basically primers are available for reloaders due to excess production. Now that there is an ammo shortage, all the primer production goes to loaded rounds.

I may have misread it. Probably said component of the primer compound, as you pointed out.

I haven't even bothered to check on primer availability, but I imagine a lot of reloading components are probably harder to find these days.

Glad I stocked up during 2016-2019. I even opened an ammo can a few months ago to find 5000 primers I had forget about, CCI small pistol and CCI #41 for 300 blackout. It was like Christmas

Small pistol and rifle primers are nonexistent. Boxes of 1k are selling on gunbroker for insane prices. I have been driving around my area trying to find all I can.

Projectiles are also hard to find.

    Powder seems to be available.

Wow, I missed all this going on. I've got enough of all to reload for years. Probably the only thing I'd want more of is some more 300 Blackout brass and 300 Blackout bullets, but I have enough to last for a while.

I think everyone said there from 2016-2019 when prices were cheap to stock up, that I did.

I got a great deal on Fiocchi primers a few years ago. Made in Italy. They work just as good as domestic at 1/2 the non-gouging , pre-panic hoarding price.

I don't reckon too many of the mid to small ammo companies actually make their own primers today. Read something about that during the last primer shortage. It makes sense that they buy from the big boys , even the ones overseas.
