I don't think that 5 oz is really that much difference but I can see the argument for a lighter EDC gun.

Steel might not be "stronger" but it's a lot less brittle, and it certainly isn't weaker. Some alloy frame pistols have cracking issues after a few thousand rounds.

There's nothing really wrong with alloy framed pistols. Heck, I have a few. I just prefer steel. I even prefer hammer forged over cast. I like strong, overbuilt things. (Don't tell my wife I said that)

She has a .40 RAMI and it is a bit snappy. It's not harsh or uncontrollable, it just has some kick to it. It would be a lot nicer to shoot with a steel frame IMO.

As far as decockers go, I've never been a fan. Again, it's just a personal preference thing.

There is no right or wrong. Not everyone understands the Riddle of Steel. I recommend praying to Krom, and contemplating it on the Tree of Woe.
5oz is not nothing, but you are right, it is a personalized choice.

I'd prefer the Beretta decocker/safety, then decocker, then cocked and locked safety. Man that sentence sounded dirty. I see decocker and think Lorena Bobbitt.

Quite frankly, I think the Beretta has the most idiotic setup ever. There's no need to have a safety when you've got a long, heavy DA pull. Plus, it's located in a place where your fingers can slip when racking the slide, kicking it into safe when you need it to be on fire.

My 92 has the G conversion, and my USPs have the V3 detent to remove the safety. If you're using a DA/SA gun, there's no need for a decocker and safety on one gun. Pick one or the other.

Sig M11A1 of course. Compact with 15 round double stack mags. All the regular Sig DA/SA attributes. It even has real sights on it.

Sig M11-A1 is my EDC also. The DA/SA trigger is great, no safety, and small enough to carry IWB all year around.

    If he's looking for a compact, there's the P225 and P239.

I might get hammered for my choice, but I just picked up a SCCY CPX1. Internal hammer, DAO, holds 10+1. $300 Fully loaded it's 3 oz lighter that a PPK/S, but the same size, little wider. Unfired yet, planning a range trip next week.

You are correct. Ended up with a cz75d pcr. Pretty happy with it.

I've carried it a few times now that I've shot it a bit. Much more comfortable than my Beretta 92.
