After reading this thread, I think I'd rather be shot dead than wear that crap daily.

I can't stand having 85 cents in loose change in my pocket weighing me down. I don't think body armor would be my cup of tea.

Most of us on this forum would be using armor to stand guard rather than to be running around chasing after antifa stickmen.

Only the steel plates are particularly heavy, and as stated above most of it is bought for emergency use only. If you're ever in a situation where you face a high likelihood of getting shot you aren't going to care much about the weight.

For me these purchases are for JIC. I have zero plans of wearing it on any regular basis.

No offense Empty but you're not exactly the biggest guy around.

Whatever I end up purchasing, I would need to be able to wear it as comfortably as possible between 8 to 12 hours as I do 2 days on 8s and 2 days on 12s.

I have a hard time personally justifying just in case purchases that are so excitement AND have a shelf life.

Still cheaper than a trip to the hospital with a bullet wound.

I can relate to that! For me that's why I ended up getting some ar500 steel plates/carrier. Relatively cheap & the expiration date is irrelevant. They serve a purpose for worst case scenario.

Understood. From things I've read and heard the expiration date is not a hard one and these things can definitely be used beyond the dates. Especially if stored well. I don't plan on discarding these in 5.5 years
