Default Fair price for a lightly used S&W M19 Classic?

I have a S&W M19-9 Classic I purchased new a couple years ago. Fired maybe 200 38spl and 100 357mags through it. All original with original plastic case and all accessories and paperwork. Only changes I've made were a set of Meprolight tritium sights. Has some light finish wear from the cylinder stop and small wear spots on either side of the muzzle. And a scratch on the top strap and cylinder when my screwdriver slipped changing the sights. A little cold blue hid it pretty well but a recent cleaning took off the cold blue on the cylinder so another application would be good.

I've been wanting a new M27 Classic with the 4" barrel. No particular reason, I just think the N frame looks better than the K. With the tapered barrel and all. The gun is really just a range toy so the practical advantages of the K frame are kinda moot.
I see no point in having two otherwise identical 4" 357s so figured I would sell the 19 and put that money toward a new 27.

Was just wondering what would be a fair price to ask for one of these considering the current panic buying?

You might want to go on Gunbroker, advanced search, completed auctions to see what they have been bringing and set your price that way.

Used sold for $605 on 05/05. That was a penny start, no reserve auction. People are in a bit more of a panic now and buying. Maybe $650 in the current climate on GB. Probably less here unless that's a gun someone is looking for. Mostly because it doesn't appear people here are panic buying guns. Just looking for deals.

This being a "Classic" and not a "Real" Model 19, I'd say more in the range of $500 to $550. The added sights may actually hurt the value, but it will depend on the customer. I'd suggest that you look for a 27-2 when it comes time to buy your 27.

Don't forget the cold blue abomination. Personally I would drop another 100 for that one.

UNCLEJUMBO is right about $ 650 ! This week ! Prices I have seen are on the borderline of panic and dont see prices going anywhere but up. Another factor is do you need the funds to buy your 27 ? Then price accodingly .

there's nothing identical between an N frame and a K frame.
i'd look for a m28 before i went shopping for one of the new 27s.
it's only metal, we can out think it....

I wouldn't give more than $300.00 due to sight change, the extra key hole near the cylinder release, gouge on cylinder and top strap (with the cold blue repair), and cylinder turn lines. I would probably offer $250.00 and buy somewhere between $250 and $300.

Beat up police trade model 10's sell for $300. I haven't seen even a worn 19 for less than 400 in several years around here.

That said, being modern production with the Hillary hole it isn't really going to make S&W collectors jump on it. With the cosmetic issues, I'd say $600 is pretty top of the mark. Personally, I wouldn't go over 500, but I know they're probably sold out everywhere. That and current buying market should help it. Probably depends on how fast you want to sell it.
